There are many of us that have good reliable tradespeople that we have used for years.

We are happy we their work and the prices and are never left with a bad taste in our mouths,

However there are also many of us that have had some shocking experiences with tradespeople and have been left with projects ether unfinished or not to the correct standard and out of pocket!

How can this be avoided, the simply answer is do you homework and reduce the risk!

  1. Check references at least two
  2. Ask to see a copy of their insurance
  3. Check if they are affiliated with any trade associations
  4. Confirm deposit required before works commence ( around 20% )
  5. Always get a alterative quotations ( 3 recommended )
  6. Always confirm the works agreed in the quotation to make sure you understand what your getting before the project starts ( make a specification if possible )
  7. Confirm a payment plan before works commence. (so after the deposit when is the next payment due?

  9. Agree in writing a program of works to insure your project does not drag on!
